This is the process of placing the dental implant into your mouth. Dental implants are small, screw-shaped titanium rods. They are designed to fit perfectly into your mouth, in the area where your missing tooth used to be. They bond with the surrounding tissue over time, creating an artificial root.
Implant placement takes just one appointment after Dr. Kella has approved you for treatment. You’ll come in, and your mouth will be cleaned and numbed. Then, Dr. Kella will create an opening in your gums and jaw, place your implant, clean the area, and suture it shut. This process is repeated if you’re having more than one implant.
An implant restoration refers to the dental prosthetic used to restore your smile. Implant restorations attach directly to your implant after your healing process is complete to give you a full, natural-looking tooth replacement. Common implant restorations include dental crowns as well as fixed dental bridges and implant-supported dentures.
Single-tooth implant restorations are made of strong, durable porcelain. Once your dental implant has healed, this porcelain dental crown will be permanently bonded to it. Full-arch implant restorations are a bit different. Using 4-6 implants on the upper, lower or both arches of your mouth, Dr. Kella can restore your smile even if you’re missing all of your teeth. Implant-supported dentures, which snap onto your implants for a secure hold, are the most common option. However, fixed non-removable bridges may also be used in some cases.
Yes. Dental implants can last 30+ years, and most patients keep their implants for the rest of their lives. They bond with the jaw bone and gum tissue in your mouth, essentially becoming a natural part of your jawbone. With proper oral hygiene and care, your dental implants will never need to be removed or replaced.
The cost of dental implants can vary quite a bit based on the location of your missing teeth, the number of missing teeth, the need for pre-surgical procedures like tooth extractions, and other factors. For an accurate cost estimate, schedule a consultation with Dr. Kella.
We use a wide variety of dental technologies to provide stellar results during the implant placement process. One of the most powerful technologies used at Lakeshore Dental Studio is CBCT 3D technology. CBCT stands for Cone Beam Computed Tomography. It’s a special type of x-ray that allows us to capture a 3D image of your teeth, soft tissues, nerve pathways, and jaw bone. Using CBCT technology, Dr. Kella can get clear and accurate views of your jaw and mouth. He then uses this information to develop a precise dental implant plan, ensuring that you get the best results.
